Following five years of negotiations, the Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO (TWU), announced today that it has reached an agreement in principle for the flight attendants it represents at Allegiant Airlines. This is the first union contract for this group of workers.
“The flight attendants at Allegiant Airlines have stood up for years to make their voices heard – they couldn’t have done it without their International union, and we are proud to bring them this agreement to vote on,” said TWU International Vice President Thom McDaniel, who helped negotiate the deal.
This six-year agreement includes a 12-year pay-scale, hourly increases upon ratification and each year thereafter, a per diem increase, a grievance process, and improved sick leave and vacation.
“It’s a great moment for our members at Allegiant, and we’re thrilled to see their work has paid off,” added Mike Mayes, TWU Air Division Director.
In the coming weeks, the negotiating team will present the highlights of the agreement to the membership along with contract educational materials, followed by the full text of the proposal. Contract education meetings in person and via conference call will be scheduled in advance of the ratification vote, for which a date has not yet been set. All information can be found on the TWU Local 577 website.
