TWU International President Harry Lombardo was recently honored for his outstanding leadership by Labor Press, New York’s leading source for daily labor news and industry information, at a celebration in New York.
The event, held June 1, was also attended by a delegation from the AFL-CIO, led by Secretary-Treasurer Elizabeth Shuler and AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation President Mike Stotz.

As a co-chair of the event, President Stotz personally thanked Lombardo and the other honorees for their hard work, saying “The sense of duty and obligation that you instill in your members by not only supporting their work, but by supporting the communities that they live in sets a shining example for us all to follow.”
That is certainly true for all the honorees, but none more than President Lombardo, who has ably led TWU as International President since 2013 and has been a dedicated union man since 1972, starting with Local 234 in Philadelphia. Under his leadership, TWU has organized more workers across all if its industries than it had previously in years.
Stotz added, ”Tonight workers and their families go to bed with the security of a union life because of your leadership. Thank you for your lifelong commitment to labor.”
The other distinguished honorees were; Frank Christensen, General President of the International Union of Elevator Constructors; Eric Dean, International President of the Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers; and Robert Martinez, Jr., International President of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Congratulations, President Lombardo, and thank you for all you do for TWU and its members.
