The Transport Workers Union International Executive Council voted unanimously on October 5, 2011 to support Occupy Wall Street and similar actions across the country.
Occupy Wall Street, which began on September 17, 2011, has shown to be a growing widespread grassroots movement to create an economy that works for everyone. TWU is proud to show support where there is a focus on corporate greed and job creation instead of bailouts for the wealthy.
TWU encourages all locals and divisions to support Occupy Wall Street and similar actions that are occurring around the country. It is time to hold those responsible for the financial crisis accountable for their actions.
The following is the TWU Executive Council Motion regarding Occupation Wall Street (OWS):
The International Executive Council of the Transport Workers Union of America, at our Fall Executive Council meeting, hereby empowers our International Officers and calls on all of our Locals in all Divisions to support OWS and similar activity in other states.
We encourage emphasis be placed on Corporate Greed, creating jobs, and the impact on working families.
