NEW YORK, NY: More than 1,700 hardworking Amtrak employees will be laid off – and service will continue to deteriorate – unless slash-and-burn CEO Richard Anderson is stopped. Ever since he was appointed President and CEO of Amtrak last year, he has been hell-bent on privatizing our national rail system and has already taken steps to do so.
Anderson has downsized customer service, most recently eliminating dining-car service by replacing hot, freshly-prepared, served meals with cold, packaged food in a cardboard box on two long-distance lines: Lake Shore and Capitol Limited. Customers, who pay upwards of $1,000 a ticket for this unique experience, have expressed frustration with the change saying the “boxed meals aren’t fit for a stagecoach.”
Join us as we say, “Stop the #ColdCuts!”
