The TWU Looks Forward to Working with President Biden and Vice President Harris
Following the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the following statement should be attributed to Transport Workers Union (TWU) President John Samuelsen:
“The TWU is proud to congratulate President Biden and Vice President Harris as they officially take office. This is a celebration of our democracy and it offers our country a chance to get back on the right track, starting with their plan to combat the pandemic and economic downturn.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris are ready to do battle against Covid. The new administration has already made clear that they understand that we must prioritize the safety and economic wellbeing of frontline workers to stand any chance to recover from this tragic pandemic. The plans they have already announced will bring unity and prosperity to our nation as we all join together to at last address the coronavirus with a national strategy.
“Beyond the pandemic, President Biden and Vice President Harris have also committed to addressing TWU members greatest concerns: significantly increasing infrastructure investment, ending job-destroying off-shoring, and prioritizing workers in the next generation of our economy. This Administration has the opportunity not only to end this global pandemic, but to build back better as we work to create policies that will empower the middle class and restore workers’ voices in our government.
“We look forward to continuing this work with the new Administration to make sure that all frontline workers are immediately protected on the job and that the future of those workers is brighter than their past. The TWU is committed to President Biden and Vice President Harris’ vision for transport workers nationwide over the course of the next four years and beyond.”
