Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO
STATEMENT ON ARIZONA GOV. JAN BREWER’S VETO OF SB 1062
In our fight for justice and dignity for all American workers, it is incumbent upon the Transport Workers Union to stand against any encroachment upon the civil and human rights of working men and women. We support the work of TWU Local 556 in opposing SB 1062 in Arizona and applaud Gov. Jan Brewer’s veto of this discriminatory bill.
TWU International is prepared to lock arms with our local unions wherever necessary to protect our members and every American against discrimination of any type. We encourage lawmakers in Georgia and other states across the country to follow Gov. Brewer’s lead in blocking destructive copycat legislation.
Discrimination in any form against any American or group of Americans runs counter to our mission as an industrial labor union. As we have since our founding, TWU stands—and will continue to stand—against any legislation that aims to undermine the rights of American workers.
In Solidarity,
