Transport Workers Union Reaches Tentative Agreement with Envoy Airlines
Deal Covers Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and Related Workers
Dallas, TX – The Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, representing the AMT and Related work group at Envoy Airlines—a subsidiary of American Airlines—announced today that it has reached a tentative agreement with the company. The agreement clarifies contract language and secures improvements in several contract articles, including compensation, personal days off and holiday pay.
The eight-year agreement currently in place allowed for a round of negotiations this year (after its initial four years). This proposed tentative agreement would become part of the standing eight-year agreement and would be amendable again in another four years, on December 31, 2020.
“Envoy workers deserve this deal,” said TWU International Representative Jose Galarza, who helped negotiate the agreement. “It’s a first step toward restoring the dignity, compensation and respect on the job that these workers need, and I hope they spend some time reviewing the agreement so they see that for themselves. It’s worth their support.”
The full changes to the articles in the agreement will be mailed to each member, along with voting instructions and an official ballot; voting dates will be announced shortly. In the coming days, a summary sheet will be shared with members and will serve as the basis for discussion at ratification meetings. In the meantime, members can direct questions to local officers.
