The Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) and Frontier Airlines have been negotiating regarding an agreement covering Frontier Flight Dispatchers for four and a half years, and they have been in mediation for more than three years. A full account of the history of these negotiations can be found here. By all objective measures, both parties are at an impasse.
Today, TWU has taken the next step: pursuant to Section 5 of the Railway Labor Act, TWU and Local 540 respectfully requested the National Mediation Board release the parties from mediation by proffering arbitration under Section 7 of the act.
The Board has done all it can to facilitate an agreement, and TWU is standing with our members to request this important next step, which could eventually allow our members the ability to strike, and grant them more options to come to an agreement with the company.
